If you ask someone what Fern & Flicker sells, they'll probably tell you shirts, mugs, candles, blankets, and cozy things for people who love a little whimsy in their lives.
And they'd be right.
But they'd also be missing the point.
Because it was never really about the products.
Like so many families, we dreamed about financial freedom. We wanted the chance to build something that could support our family while allowing us to spend more time with the people who matter most.
At first, Fern & Flicker was just an idea.
A fun "what if?"
What if we built a shop?
What if people liked it?
Then something unexpected happened.
As the website slowly came to life, I realized I wasn't building another online store. I was building a place.
A place where the goal wasn't simply "Please buy something."
A place where everyone was welcome.
A place that felt like coming home after a long day.
That's when Fern & Flicker stopped being an idea and became a dream worth chasing.
Because here's what I believe:
People don't buy things because they're things.
They buy what those things represent.
A sweatshirt isn't just a sweatshirt.
It's the one you pull on after a day that felt too heavy.
A mug isn't just a mug.
It's the one sitting beside you while the coffee gets cold because you were laughing too hard with a friend.
A candle isn't just a candle.
It's the quiet moment you finally carved out for yourself after taking care of everyone else.
Every product has a story.
But we don't get to write that story.
You do.
Maybe one of our designs makes another Dungeons & Dragons player smile across a crowded room.
Maybe someone spots your hoodie in the grocery store and says, "Wait... you play too?"
Maybe a blanket becomes your child's favorite because it smells like home.
Maybe a mug sits on your desk through every victory, every hard day, every fresh start.
Those memories don't belong to us.
They belong to you.
That's what makes them special.
Our family has always been a little... unconventional.
We're loud.
We're messy.
We have more kids than most people expect under one roof.
Our dogs occasionally remind us that trash cans are apparently a buffet.
Our house is full of fantasy books, board games, D&D dice that somehow appear in the washing machine, coffee cups, laughter, and enough inside jokes to confuse anyone visiting for the first time.
It isn't perfect.
It was never supposed to be.
Home isn't about spotless floors or picture-perfect moments.
Home is where you can be unapologetically yourself.
It's the people who make you laugh until your stomach hurts.
It's the ones who stay when life gets messy.
It's knowing you don't have to hide the weird parts of yourself to belong.
That's the feeling we hope lives inside Fern & Flicker.
Whether you're the person who runs two D&D campaigns a week, the one who has never touched a twenty-sided die, the book lover, the sports fan, the cozy homebody, the caffeine enthusiast, the chaos gremlin, the quiet soul, or the person still figuring out where they fit...
There's a place for you here.
Because life is messy.
It's beautiful.
It's scary.
It's hilarious.
We're all living it for the very first time.
If one silly shirt makes you laugh...

Then we've done what we set out to do.
Not because we sold a product.
