If you've found your way here, welcome. We're so glad you're here.
I'm Cara, and this little corner of the internet is my family's way of sharing the things we love—creating, laughing, surviving the beautiful chaos of everyday life, and hopefully making you smile along the way.
Our family doesn't look quite like what people expect, and honestly... we wouldn't have it any other way.
My husband, William, and I live alongside my sister, Tia, her husband, Danyal, and between the two of us we're raising seven incredible kids: Serenity, Olivia, Maisy, and Aspera, along with my niece Seraphina and my nephews Ulric and Blayden.
Yes... seven kids.
Yes... our grocery bill is terrifying.
And yes... the laundry is absolutely plotting against us.
Some people might call our living situation unusual. We call it our village.
The kids grow up with cousins who are more like siblings. There's always someone to play with, someone to learn from, someone to comfort, and usually someone arguing over whose turn it is to use the good dice set or who stole the last snack.
Speaking of nerds...
We're unapologetically nerdy around here.
You'll find Dungeons & Dragons campaigns spread across the table, Magic: The Gathering cards tucked into binders, board game nights that become legendary, fantasy books stacked beside the couch, video games, cosplay ideas, and enough inside jokes to confuse just about anyone visiting for the first time.
Our two English Mastiffs, Naomi (better known as Mimi) and Zoey (or Zozo), somehow manage to believe they're lap dogs despite weighing more than some of the children. They're equal parts gentle giants, vacuum cleaners for dropped snacks, and beloved members of the family.
Life here isn't perfectly curated.
It's loud.
It's messy.
Someone is always asking where their shoes are.
Someone is always making coffee.
Someone is always planning the next adventure, crafting project, game night, or ridiculous T-shirt idea.
And honestly? We wouldn't trade it.
Fern & Flicker was born from that life.
From conversations around the kitchen table. From laughter that echoes through the house. From difficult days where humor carries us through. From cozy evenings, creative projects, fantasy worlds, and the belief that home isn't about perfection, it's about the people who make it feel safe.
Whether you're here because you love fantasy, need a laugh, enjoy cozy living, or simply stumbled across us while looking for your next favorite shirt, we hope you'll feel like you've found a place where you belong.
So pull up a chair.
Stay awhile.
We're happy you're here.
Until next time, there's always another chair by the fire waiting for you.
